Youth Protection Training (YPT)

Youth Protection Training (YPT) is a mandatory program provided by Scouting America to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth participants. This training educates adult volunteers, leaders, and parents on recognizing, preventing, and responding to various forms of abuse. It emphasizes creating a safe environment through clear policies, such as the two-deep leadership rule and appropriate behavior guidelines. YPT must be completed by all adult leaders before engaging in Scouting activities and is renewed every two years to stay current with best practices and regulations.

Wood Badge

Wood Badge combines the principles of servant leadership, team development, and practical outdoor skills to enhance participants' ability to lead and mentor effectively. Through hands-on activities, group challenges, and reflection, participants gain valuable tools to apply within their Scout units and their personal lives, fostering growth, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of Scouting's values

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight hands on practical. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience.

Roundtable

Scouting Roundtables are regular gatherings designed to provide adult leaders with resources, training, and support to enhance their Scouting programs. They build upon the foundation provided by position-specific training and each leader’s commitment to serving youth through Scouting. These meetings offer an opportunity to share ideas, learn best practices, and stay informed about upcoming events, policies, and initiatives. They foster collaboration among leaders, helping to build a stronger, more connected Scouting community.

University of Scouting (UoS)

University of Scouting (UoS) is a one-day core and supplemental training opportunity. UoS goes beyond Leader Specific and even Advanced Training to prepare Scout Leaders with the knowledge and skills on specific topics that help them excel in their efforts to deliver the promise of Scouting.

Position-Specific Training

Position-Specific Training in Scouting is designed to provide adult leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their specific roles within the organization. Whatever position these trainings focus on responsibilities, program delivery, and effective leadership strategies tailored to the position. The courses are provided online, covering topics such as planning activities, safety protocols, and fostering youth development. This training ensures leaders are well-prepared to create a positive and enriching Scouting experience for all participants.
